(14/7/2011) US-based Matthews International Corporation agreed to acquire an initial 70% ownership interest in Kroma, the leading pre-press supplier in Turkey, for EUR9.4 mn (US$ 13.45 mn).

Established in Izmir in 2000, Kroma provides pre-press services to the packaging industry mainly for food and tobacco products in Turkey and abroad. The Company manufactures reproductions, gravure printing cylinders for the packaging industry and photopolymer printing plates for the flexo industry. Kroma is a member of the European Rotogravure Association.
Matthews International Corporation, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is one of the most prominent designers and manufacturers of custom-made identification products and brand solutions in the world with revenues of about US$820 mn and market cap of US$1.13 bn. Brand solutions include graphics imaging products and services, marking products, and merchandising solutions.
The acquisition is designed to further extend Matthews' presence as the leading provider of reprographic pre-press products and services to the European packaging and tobacco markets.
