TRANSACTIONS / Acquisition of Maret brand and its assets by Namet Gida

(8/8/2014) Namet Gida, a leading Turkish meat and meat products company acquired the Turkish meat brand, Maret and its assets from Tat Gida, an affiliate company of the Koc Group for US$75 million (plus value added tax)

Namet Gida which joined the Kayalar Group in 2005, is one of the leading meat and meat products producers in Turkey. Namet produces deli products, fresh meat, further processed products, frozen meatball and burgers in Turkey’s largest integrated meat processing plant with a closed area of 34.600 m² in İzmit. Namet ranks 116th among the top 500 Turkish companies (ISO 500) with annual revenues of around US$366 million. The company employs about 700 people. In 2013, Namet acquired the cattle feed business of Harranova Besi ve Tarim Urunleri A.S. from Koc Group. Investcorp, a global private equity firm acquired a minority stake in Namet in 2014.

Established in 1984, Maret is among the leading producers of fresh cut and packaged processed meat with 36,000 tons of annual meat processing capacity. Koc Group merged its four food business, Maret, Tat, Pastavilla and Sek under the Tat name in 2003. Maret had generated revenues of US$50 million in 2013.
