(1/7/2011) Sweden-based global hygiene and paper products company, SCA agreed to acquire Komili, a Turkish manufacturer of hygiene products from Yıldız Holding, for US$48 mn. Ventura Partners acted as the exclusive financial advisor to SCA on the transaction.
SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) agreed to acquire 50% of Komili Kağıt A.Ş., a Turkish hygiene products manufacturer from Yıldız Holding, the largest food group in Turkey. Ventura Partners acted as exclusive financial advisor to SCA on the transaction.
Komili is currently the fourth largest producer of baby diapers and feminine care products in Turkey, and the company also has operations in associated product areas such as wet wipes, soaps and shampoos. Komili will operate as a joint venture between SCA and Yıldız Holding. The acquisition includes local production and access to a strong distribution network in the country. Komili’s annual sales are approximately US$75 million.
SCA is a global hygiene and paper company that develops and produces personal care products, tissue, packaging solutions and forest products with annual revenues of about $16 billion. SCA has sales in more than 100 countries under many strong brands and employs about 45,000 people.
The acquisition of Komili will enable SCA to establish powerful hygiene products operations in Turkey in the fields of baby diapers and feminine care products. The business will also provide SCA with a platform for its incontinence care products.
